Snapshot Monday!

Today after sleeping long A. and I had a lazy morning and were doing nothing. We were watching series and were waiting for lunch. The lunch then was very good and we all enjoyed my mum's food; it's just amazing! After lunch we basically straight away made our way to town and were heading to Starbucks first to get our afternoon coffee!

With the coffee in our hands we strolled on towards the bank, where I got some money, then to dm, to get A. some stuff and then into different clothing stores, just to have a look. Since A. had given me as a birthday present a pair of cuff links, I was looking for a shirt and otherwise we were aimlessly scrolling through the racks. Eventually A. found a very nice scarf, which you could also use as a tablecloth or picnic blanket.
We strolled on and after I had bought a second memory card for my camera (which my PC for some reason can't read -.-) we had to sit down for a while. We didn't feel like another coffee or a snack and so we just sat down on a bench at one of the central squares, which is also one of the main bus stations.
On the way home we stopped by a bakery, where A. bought a Mohnzopf, which she had while walking. At home we were again sitting, had dinner and were then watching a movie.
Now we are about to go to bed. A. is looking at flats in Hamburg and I am writing the blog. What a nice and relaxing day. But tomorrow it's over and I will start writing my internship report...

...maybe!

Family Trip!

This morning we had to get up early! We were going on a trip with the whole "family"; my parents, my brother & his girlfriend S., A. and me! We went with two cars to visit my grandma, the mother of my dad in Siegen, some two hours from Aachen! As I said, it was quite early and so A. had a nap in the car.
We went with two cars, since we were six people and we do not have such a big car. When we arrived at the retirement home, where my grandma lives, my brother and S. were not there yet, but arrived shortly after. We went up to my grandma's room, but she wasn't there and so we looked for her and found her sleeping in a chair in one of the common rooms. My dad carefully woke her and after realizing who was waking her she was super happy to see all of us!

We stayed some time with her and then went for lunch at a Chinese restaurant in town. Earlier, when my grandma was still living in her own flat we had been to this restaurant every time we visited her since they had a huge lunch buffet. Also this time, basically as a tradition, we went there and were eating so much from the buffet and from the front-cooking-station. It was amazing!

After lunch we headed to Bad Honnef, the town I am studying in. My family owns three flats there, my dad two and my brother one, which we are renting out to students of my university. Today one student wanted to move in and my father and my brother wanted to do something in the flats. Since we were in the car anyways we had no choice but going with them. However, after some time in the flat I got bored and went with A. and S. to have a walk and a coffee in town.
On the way to Bad Honnef!
It was nice to walk around and get some fresh air, but also to see my university again and to see all the changes that had happened during my absence. The city was deserted, since most of the students are not back yet and also since it is Sunday today! I am actually not moving back to Bad Honnef (as it looks right now) and actually I am a bit sad about this decision; my last hope is, that the person being interested in the last spare room decides not to take it. Right now I am really hoping he wont take it, but my gut feeling tells a different story!

Anyways, I'll be good and right now I am having a beer with my lovely A.! I will finish writing, will upload the pictures and then I guess we'll watch a movie! This was somehow a weird, but good day!

Thinking about the Future!

Today, after a good night sleep, A. and I got up at 9.30 and had breakfast! I had set an alarm today since we didn't wanted to sleep the whole day, but go out and use the day. We wanted to go to the Master's Open Day at the Maastrich University.
Both A. and I were interested in a study course and I was also eager to show the beautiful city of Maastricht to her. So we took my dad's car and made our way over the border to Holland and drove the 30-something kilometers to Aachen's neighboring city. I was in a really good mood since I am off work now and soon my uni starts and I will use my brain again! Also there were certain drawbacks while working; since the company was producing food there are strict regulations what the staff can and can not wear while working. I had to cut off all my bracelets and couldn't wear my watch for weeks. Now finally I could put on the bracelets A. brought me from her holiday on Gran Canaria and was also wearing my watch.
Anyways, we came to Maastricht early, parked the car and went for a stroll around the city. We walked along the old city wall and found a street with a (literally) hilarious street name - the Dutch are a very funny nation somehow!
We walked on, crossed the Maas and walked along the street. After some time we turned back and walked to the main square where there was a carnival-brass-band playing happy music. With this good mood we finally went to the university, we registered, got a welcome bag (which later on got quite useful) and went straight to the Lecture Hall, where one of the presentations was about to start. It was a funny feeling sitting in an auditorium again and listening to a lecturer holding a PowerPoint presentation.
After two presentations and a complimentary snack at the university we decided to leave. We were hungry and wanted to grab something to eat. Unfortunately the weather had changed, it was pouring and so we reconsidered and decided to go home instead. On the way to the car the welcome bag was then used as an umbrella, since neither A. nor I had a proper one or even a hood.

Back in Aachen we went to the supermarket, bought some food and had a late lunch. After that we talked about A's job offer in Hamburg, had some rum and tea and were playing the game Rummikub. Now we just had dinner with my parents and will relax. Tomorrow we all are going to Siegen to meet my grandma and after that we will head to Bad Honnef; one person is moving into one of the flats we own there!
After all the day was really nice; so sad, that the weather changed and we could not see more of the city! But there will be another time, for sure!

Totally Forgot!

I totally forgot to mention that yesterday when I came home from work I had a Kinder Surprise on my table! A. did bring it to me from town since she knows that I like them. The chocolate was delicious and the surprise inside was perfect; it was a model of the new Airbus plane, the A380. I really like this small model and it is ok, that it is from Singapore Airlines and not from Lufthansa - which would have been one of the other choices.
Anyways, I just got home from work and have been talking to A. for some minutes. She is fine in Hamburg and did meet some acquaintances who she had met in Australia back in the days. She seemed really good and I guess she will tell you more about her future soon on her blog

I will enjoy my beer now and will go to bed soon. Tomorrow at 11 o'clock T. is coming here to meet me. I haven't seen him for quite some time and I guess it will be good!

Home Alone - again!

I just came back from the train station to where I brought A. this early morning! She is going to Hamburg for her interview and seeing the workplace. I am actually quite sure, that they want to hire her, it somehow seemed like it from what A. told me!

Now I am home alone again and will spend the two days working. I guess I will meet up with a friend tomorrow before work; I haven't seen him for over 3 years, although we are living quite close. I can't wait for the week to be over soon; this was really the maximum time I was able to stay in that job!

Anyways, one thing more: On the way to the station there was the best sky I have seen for quite some time! It was amazing and one of these picture moments, that really last just one minute or even less. Unfortunately I didn't had my camera with me and also no time and space to stop. So it will stay just a picture in my head; but be assured, it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

New Week - Last Week!

Today the new week started with sleeping long and lazy breakfast! I am working the late shift this week and so I have to be at work at 14.30. It actually is my last week in the job and I am looking forward to ending it soon. I will have then still two weeks until my uni starts again. I will use this time to finally write my internship report, to show A. the area around Aachen a bit and I will go to make a flea market to sell some stuff. All these things I had planned for the time before uni starts again, but didn't do them yet, due to my job!

A. and I just came back from a nice morning walk. It's gray and cold outside, but at least it is not raining or snowing (like last night). A. will go to Hamburg on Wednesday to visit a potential workplace. It seems like they actually wanna hire her, but she is not sure about it yet. So we will see what the future will bring!

24

Today is my birthday! Not that I care so much about it, since I just change the number when somebody asks me for my age, but somehow it is worth mentioning. I didn't had anything planned for the day and so A. and I slept long this morning and had lazy breakfast.

After that we decided to go to the Carolus Thermen, a thermal bath here in Aachen. The city of Aachen was basically founded because of the thermal springs and the hot sulfur-water rising from the ground. This water is easing all kinds of afflictions and Charlemagne (lat.: Carolus => hence the name of the bath) was suffering from some health problems; therefore he settled in this region!

Anyways, it was very nice and relaxing in the bath. Shortly after we got home my brother and his girlfriend stopped by to congratulate and we had some cake my mum had made earlier today. The rest of the afternoon A. and I were chilling at home and I got a pair of cuff links from her; now I need new shirts!!
Now we just had a very nice dinner with my parents and soon we will head out to the city. Just for some cocktails and later to the Guinness House.

Today!

I actually wanted to write yesterday but since my dad asked me to help him with something, which then took nearly two hours, and therefore I didnt have time anymore before I had to head to bed. Since I was working early morning shift today again I went to sleep shortly after eight.

Anyways, yesterday after helping my dad I went to the hairdresser and got my hair cut. A. came with me and was sitting there watching me becoming handsome again. After that we strolled around the city, went to dm and headed back home.

Today - hopefully - for the last time for the last time in my life, I got up in the middle of the night - for a job - and left A. behind in bed. The day went by eventless; Work was relaxed and the guy I am normally working with went home, because he did not feel good.
When I got home A. was already waiting for me. We spent the afternoon just being together and now we had a beer and just started with the rum; a perfect Friday afternoon/evening!

A. is planning right now her trip to Hamburg, we are listening to Jason Mraz and I am just sitting here and am happy that it's weekend!

Finally Some Motivation Again!

I am working morning shifts this week and this means getting up at 4 in the night. Understandably I am always super tired when coming from work and therefore I wasn't at all in the mood to write here. But now I am a bit more alert; The sun is shining today and A. and I had our afternoon coffee outside. We wanted to sit on the terrace in the back of our house, but there was no sun anymore and so we simply sat down at the end of our driveway directly at the street. Some neighbors passed by and it was nice to see them again.

Now A. and I just watched How I met your Mother and I felt like writing. For some reason I also did not feel very creative during the weekend and although I actually planned to write I didn't. Actually it was quite nice, the weather was good and we spent a lot of time outside. We walked to Holland and Belgium and had a Mediterranean evening, where we ate Spanish cheese and Canarian potatoes and other things from the region together with my parents. It was really nice and we all enjoyed the food a lot!
While I was working the last days A. was going out and more importantly applying to many companies all over the western part of Germany, hoping to find work. I think its very good that she is doing that and not just hanging around. I know that she really needs a rhythm and a life, otherwise she would go crazy. On the other hand this also means, that I have to see where she goes and have to think if I will move there with her together. This totally depends obviously how far it is from there to my university town; I am in the end still a student and have to focus on finishing my studies first!

Anyways, yesterday after work A. and I just had to get out of the house and I am glad, that she convinced me to go to the city. My dad dropped us close to the center and we had a stroll around. We were walking through the shops and were just enjoying to be around some people. I found a nice pair of shoes and some more ideas for clothes. However, I wasn't really in the mood for cloth shopping and since we both got hungry, A. and I had dinner at a bakery in the city center.
I am really happy, that she is here with me and is keeping my morale up all the time. She is giving me the energy that I need for work and makes the time after work so much more enjoyable. She even writes me short letters and notes for when I am getting up. These really helps getting through work! I really love her!

Dull Life!

I am sorry for not writing for such a long time! But I have my reasons; my life is super dull at the moment and since I am anyways not doing anything worth telling about I am also not in the mood to write here!

I moved back to my hometown and back into my childhood home, which meant giving up a lot of freedom. Don't get me wrong, I am liking the fact that the fridge is always full, my clothes are always clean and the food is ready well before I have to leave for work. But to be honest, this is exactly what annoys me, this is exactly what I am sick and tired of already!
I moved out nearly four years ago and was - with a short intermission when coming from my internship on Tenerife - living not at home and also not in my hometown. I was living in Bad Honnef, where my university is, in Helsinki for my year abroad and in Oslo for my second internship. I was used to buy my own food, to cook for myself and to make sure that I had something clean to wear every day. I was free and - more or less - independent!

Now I am back home and, as I said, gave up this freedom. Most of the people I had contact with moved away from Aachen and to the few that stayed I have basically no contact to. I also have no real motivation to call them; the weather is gray and rainy all the time and I am spending most of the day working or can't stay out long, since I have to get up at 4 a.m., when having the morning shift. After working mornings I am too knackered to do anything; A vicious circle!
Also work is not giving me anything. I am working in a airline catering company and doing a very brain-dead job. I am not really the solely physical worker anyways, I always need to use my head too otherwise I get bored. This job is really not my think and I dislike it a lot! But I do not really have a choice right now; OK, I could just quit, but then I would be without a job and without money. And actually this was the main purpose I went back home: to earn some money and have no expenses when living at my parent's.

Anyways, my life is quite dull, as I said! A. is gone to Gran Canaria, lazing in the sun and I am here in the gray and cold Germany not doing anything. I am living with my parents again, who I really appreciate and especially for the fact, that I can use my mum's car all day long without her minding. But I know I annoy them quite a bit and they annoy me as well. During the last years of not living at home I grew up and developed my own rhythms and - mostly bad - habits. They are not always easy to cope with and especially for my parents it's hard, now that I am intruding their life again!

I really hope, that I will survive the next three weeks at work and that I wont be bored to death! I hope also, that my parents wont throw me out and that I am not annoying them too much. I hope further, that A. will find a job here in Germany close-by and that we can move together in a flat there! This is it; Three wishes for the next couple of months, I think I didn't ask too much!
